Boysville is a residential home which provides a "continuum of trauma-informed services and care for children and caregivers affected by abuse, neglect, and family crisis." The non-profit provides family oriented living spaces for children who are displaced from their parents. The goal is to foster a living community where children can grow up in a safe stable family setting while receiving emotional support and counseling. Each "cottage" is arranged with live-in foster parents and six children.

Existing Boysville Facility

To accomplish Boysville's goals, the organization was looking for specialized housing accommodating six children, attached apartment for the primary parents and secondary attached apartment for the weekend parents. This arrangement allows for all parties to have their own space while still providing an arrangement which allows for safe continuous monitoring of the children.

It was important to Boysville that the cottages not feel institutionalized but like a welcoming "average" home. The selection of materials were based off vernacular materials with a variety of colors that would provide cottages with individuality.
